亲爱的同学们,
我感到很荣幸参加今天的开学典礼并致辞。非常高兴也很期待我校和武汉商学院共同开发的英语授课的本科工商管理项目正式开始。
我了解到武汉是一个拥有超过1000万人口的大城市，在过去的20年中取得显著的经济发展成就。武汉市实际上由三个城市组成即武昌、汉口和汉阳，由此直接构成了武汉市的名字“武“和“汉“。三个城市共同发展成为今天大家都认识的武汉市。正如这三个城市共同发展的合作关系，我相信FOM大学和武汉商学院的合作关系也会在未来一起成长并结出硕果。
FOM始终重视开设学科的教学质量，在开设的经济管理，法律，工程等学科中坚持始终贯彻最高的教学标准要求。从建校开始在相对较短的20年发展时间里，FOM大学已有32.700名在校学生，是德国最大私立高等教育院校。FOM获得了德国最重要的科学政策咨询机构-德国科学与人文委员会-的认证。2012年初，FOM作为德国的第一所私立大学通过了国际权威认证机构FIBAA（国际工商管理认证联合会）的教学质量系统评估。获得这一国际上最权威的高等教育评估机构的认证证明了FOM的质量管理符合国际最高标准。
FOM大学多年来开展了众多的国际合作，符合高标准的国际准则是这些成功合作的先决条件。FOM与中国高校的合作由来已久，如今更是日益密切。早在10年前第一批合作办学项目的中国学生就已来到德国完成了他们的FOM本科主修阶段学习。正如今天的你们-亲爱的同学们-你们的FOM学哥学姐们正是在12年前在中国开始了他们的本科学习。迄今为止已有超过2000名学生参加了我们的合办办学项目。我相信，这些同学们的经验和FOM大学与时俱进的学科设置必将帮助你们取得学业的成功。
在FOM大学已取得的学术和学科建设的基础上，我们和武汉商学院建立起了合作伙伴关系。武汉商学院是中国最年轻的和最有活力的经济管理类高校之一。以FOM大学超过20年的成功办学经验联同武汉商学院出色教学资源，我们相信通过我们的努力同学们一定会学有所成。
同学们即将开始的学习将是中英文教学，在中国德国分别学习的国际课程。我们的课程又综合了武汉商学院的FOM大学的学科优势。正如三个城市结合成了今天优美而富有活力的武汉市一样，FOM大学与武汉商学院也必将综合双方的优势努力办好我们的合作项目。让我们共同成长进步一起为同学的未来发展打下坚实基础！

Dear students,
I do feel privileged and most honored to hold the ceremonial speech on the occasion of the first semester opening of our two universities’ joint English-Chinese Bachelor program in Business Administration.
Wuhan, I learnt, is a city of more than 10 million people and has shown a remarkable economic growth over the last two decades. Actually, I learnt too, that it is a city of 3 cities namely Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang, thus forming its name of the two characters of Wu and Han. Just as these three cities have grown together in time so that all Chinese only think of it as Wuhan today, I am sure that our cooperation will grow together and stand just as strong in the future.
The FOM has always focused on the high quality of its study programs and thus has combined a steady pace of growth with a clear focus on meeting the highest educational standards for students in the areas of economics, law, taxation and engineering. During the more than 20 years of its relatively short history the FOM has grown to the number of 32.700 students, thus being the biggest private institute of higher education in Germany. The FOM has been accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities, Germany's most important advisory body for science policy. At the beginning of 2012, the FOM was also the first private university in Germany to be accredited as an institution by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). This seal of approval from one of the world's most important higher education assessment agencies proves that the FOM's quality management satisfies the highest international standards.
These very international standards are nowadays well visible in the numerous FOM international cooperations all around the globe. In particular with China the FOM traditionally has always sustained strong cooperational ties so that already 10 years ago the first group of Chinese students came to Germany in order to complete their FOM Bachelor studies. Just as you today, dear students, your fellow countrymen who are now FOM alumni started out with their FOM bachelor studies in China exactly 12 years ago. More than 2000 students have followed them since and we are confident that you will benefit from what these students have taught us, the FOM, to offer you an even better program than the one that was launched 12 years ago.
In its constant strive for academic excellence the FOM has found a worthy partner with the Wuhan Business University, one of China’s youngest and most dynamic universities of economics that was founded exactly when the FOM celebrated its 20th anniversary. Wuhan Business University also aims at providing you with the best in education so that two strong partners are now working together for your benefit.
Your bachelor program is taught in both English and Chinese and takes place in both China and in Germany; so it combines the best of two worlds of higher education, namely Wuhan Business University’s and the FOM’s. Just as the city of Wuhan combines the best of three cities, we will combine our two university’s strengths with the best in you. In this sense I am positive that we will grow to be a strong team that provides for a solid basis of your future career.
